Protest in 5 Italian cities against the Bank UniCredit because of planned loan for Ilisu Dam Project (15.11.2007)

On the 15th November in five Italian cities (Rome, Milan, Ravenna, Cataina and Cagliari) were protests in front of the UniCredit Banks. UniCredit is one of the biggest Banks and Finance institutions in Italy and owns the Bank of Austria—Creditanstalt. Bank of Austria is one of the three european Banks which plan to give a loan for the Ilisu Project. So UniCredit decides finally on the loan issue for Ilisu Dam project.

 

Below are three photos from the protest in Rome. Around 40 people were in front of the bank for two hours. The protesters met the director and handed him some documentations. Also the initiative in Milano was very good (where the Unicredit group headquarter is).
People from the bank asked for a meeting to discuss the issue and also expressed the intention of organising a delegation to Hasankeyf.
